Holding Ground in Nicaragua, Despite Violence

Demanding justice and calling for the current President to step down, hundreds of Nicaraguans have been killed and thousands injured in recent months. And it’s only getting worse. As the voices of citizen-led protests get louder, violent attempts to suppress them intensify.

The situation is especially dire for women. At this critical moment, a grant from The MATCH Fund supports women to continue their activism for reproductive rights within some of the most conservative communities.

The MATCH Fund’s partner (name omitted for security reasons) has organized thirteen trainings in the past six months to arm young women with information about preventing unwanted pregnancies, STIs, and HIV & AIDS.

The organization has a message for supporters of The MATCH Fund: “In the midst of political, social, and economic insecurity, this grant means so much to us.”
