Donate to MATCH International

To begin, we extend a huge Thank You!

Our continued success depends on the financial support of people like you, who believe in MATCH and share our ongoing commitment to assist women and girls in Africa, Asia, the Caribbean and Latin America to address issues of poverty, inequality, injustice and violence. For every dollar you give, the Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA) matches it 3:1, therefore your $50.00 donation turns into $200.00 for MATCH. Please give as generously as you possibly can.

4 Ways to Donate

1. A New and Easy Way to Make a Contribution

MATCH has opened an Investment Account and we're ready to roll out a new, mutually-beneficial way to donate.

Changes announced in the 2006 Federal Budget make it much more attractive to donate gifts of public-traded securities to registered charities. Stocks, bonds, mutual funds, bills, futures and warrants can be turned into generous charitable gifts. Plus, capital gains have been eliminated on all gifts of public-traded securities to charities like MATCH.

What does this mean? Supporters like you can enjoy significant tax savings when you make a donation of appreciated securities in the form of an "in kind" transfer of the security itself. MATCH issues a charitable tax receipt for the fair market value of the gift of securities to be used for tax purposes – the fair market value is determined based on the closing price of the securities on the date the gift is received by MATCH.

Here's an example of how it all works:

Paula decides to give MATCH publicly traded securities. She bought them for $400 and they are now worth $1,000, making the capital gain $600. Paula's assumed combined federal and provincial marginal tax rate is 46%. By donating $1,000 worth of appreciated securities directly to MATCH, Paula has eliminated any capital gains tax and saved an additional $140.

We are always trying to expand the range of options available for people like you to help MATCH carry out its valuable work.

Monthly Sustaining Donor Plan

The Sustaining Donor Plan is MATCH International Centre's pre-authorized giving program. It is the most cost effective way to make regular contributions to support the vital work of MATCH.

How it works:

As a Sustaining Donor, you have made the commitment to give MATCH a monthly gift from your chequing account or credit card. It is the most cost effective and convenient way to give. Your gift is automatically made through your bank account or credit card on the first day of the month. It allows you to budget your contribution in twelve (12) equal amounts.

The advantage for MATCH is a reduction in the number of mailings, therefore reducing paper and postage costs. Also, it allows us to plan longer-term projects because of this guaranteed funding. You receive an annual receipt in January to cover your total contributions for the year. You can change or cancel your contributions at any time by notifying us.

How to join

To become a Sustaining Donor please fill out the printable form and mail it to us accompanied by a VOID cheque or fax it to us with your credit card information.

Other Donation Options

Give the Gift of MATCH

Wondering what to give a family member or friend for their birthday, anniversary or special occasion? Why not give the "gift of MATCH." Make a donation to MATCH in their name. We will send them a card notifying them that a donation has been made in their name in honour of the occasion.

To be part of this programme, please call 1-888-414-8717 or 613-238-1312, or print the donation form giving us the name and address of the recipient and mail.

Bequest

It is one of the simplest planned giving options to arrange. You include MATCH International Centre as a beneficiary in your WILL; this will significantly reduce the tax paid by your estate. Contact your lawyer or financial planner for further information if you wish to donate to MATCH in your WILL.

Insurance Policy

Another option to receiving a tax deduction is naming MATCH International Centre as beneficiary/owner of a life insurance policy. You pay the yearly premiums and receive a tax receipt for that amount from MATCH.

If you have any questions or need more information on any of these options do not hesitate to contact Fundraising and Donor office at info@matchinternational.org; toll fee at 1-888-414-8717 or 613-238-1312.
